19 April 08:00 "XXML" by Marc Lagrange
Exhibition of photographs by the French photographer Marc Lagrange.
For twenty years Marc Lagrange’s photos have been a tribute to beauty. His work, which is in great demand among art lovers, is shown in the best galleries in Belgium and abroad.
Ever since the 1980s, the decade in which Lagrange dedicated himself for
good to photography, he has created intriguing portraits and nudes of his
muses, elusive femmes fatales full of secrets and fantasies, with an underlying decadent impulse. Lagrange’s penchant for touching can be seen in the series ‘And God created… Women’, portraits of female and
even male nudes.
He became passionately attached to the Polaroid in the 1990s, which is
still his favourite medium as well as large-format analog photography.
Every time Lagrange searches for the perfect setting and casting, the best
light and perspective, the right pose for his icons.
His ultimate goal? To raise sensuality to a higher level, to give each photo something that transcends reality, to create a unique experience. The viewer is absorbed
from a sometimes voyeuristic standpoint in his universe of stunning women in amazingly beautiful, usually Baroque interriors who are undeniably chic and magical, but at the same time also human and fragile.
Drawing on the techniques of the cinema, every picture is stylishly staged in a luxurious interior on location or in the studio, pulsating with eroticism but never obscene, an enchanting dream world.
