For 10 years, Camille Fournet has been an active patron of the arts, providing support for original creations by inviting contemporary artists to its twice-yearly Rencontres Équinoxes that allow artists to fully appreciate the special relationship that exists between the luxury leather goods company and its raw materials.
Le Chuchotement des mains, an exhibition presented at Art Paris in a design by artist Lucien Murat, evokes the hybrid zone in which contemporary creation meets the craft of expert artisans. It illustrates what happens when artists and artisans combine their energies with a selection of ten or so works by Yasmina Benabderrahmane, Lucien Murat, Elsa Sahal, Recycle Group, Ittah Yoda, Maude Maris, Fabrice Hyber and ORLAN.
Yasmina Benabderrahmane is presenting a video comprising a series of close-ups of the hands of expert artisans at work. Elsa Sahal is pushing the leather-working expertise of Camille Fournet to the very limits with her complex leather sculptures. By playing with the sensual character of leather, Lucien Murat questions the stereotypes of masculinity. Recycle Group explores the influence of the virtual world on day-to-day life. Artist duo Ittah Yoda has created an immersive sculpture. Maude Maris celebrates the shared creative preoccupations of artists and artisans. Fabrice Hyber points out the predominance of accessories that are now literally becoming extensions of our own bodies. ORLAN highlights the ever-increasing disappearance of living species and Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil questions whether we must reinvent our heritage to ensure it perdures in the reality of the world today.
